You will need a valid passport before you can travel outside of your country. An expired passport is as good as useless to you if you want to travel to Canada from the US. Without a valid passport, you will be denied entry in all countries you intend to travel to.
Here's what you can do:
1. Contact your nearest embassy or consulate for the replacement of your lost passport;
2. As long as you have the requirements needed for the application of a replacement passport, there should be no problem
