Fly to Quito (via Madrid) then travel from there. The flight from Quito stops in Guayaquil then continues on to Baltra.

Assuming you're looking for a cruise, if they still exist, I can recommend a company called Safari Tours who are based in Quito...I got their details in Lonely Planet but it was a few years ago. I did a bit of reearch and decided what I wanted to see and therefore which islands were best. They had a list of ALL the boats and where they went. From that I was able to determine which had the best itinerary - and booked it with them. They sorted out my flight and boat trip. A lot of companies in Quito are run by the boat owners, so only have the details of their boats.

I contacted Safari as soon as I arrived in Quito, but then went travelling around Ecuador for a few weeks before heading back to Quito to go to the Galapagos. If you want to go directly to the islands, I suggest booking in advance or your choice may be limited.

And if you can, do an 8 day trip rather than the 4 or 5....well worth it and not much more expensive.

Either way, booking with someone in Ecuador is going to be a LOT cheaper than booking a tour through a UK-based operator.

Being that it is off the Coase of Hawaii maybe fly to there first and transfer. I'd love to go there, can I come too?
