We will be traveling over Easter, and I will not be able to go to the store to buy Easter basket items while gone. Therefore, I need to be able to pack items to go into a "basket". Of course, I can't pack a basket either, as that would be just a little too obvious for the kids to see. So I also need ideas on what to use for putting items in for Easter morning. Any suggestions?

Here's how to prepare an Easter basket on the run. Purchase a deep pre-decorated gift box (you can also use a gift bag). You can find there at dollar tree, Target, or Walmart. You'll also need clear cellophane wrap, tissue paper, and ribbon. All of these can be purchased at the above stores and packed flat.

To create the basket pop the box open and press the top flap into the box. Crumble the tissue paper to create the grass. Fill with Easter treats. Wrap cellophane around the box and secure with a box.

Items that won't take up to much space in your luggage:

Gift certificates to itunes

Gift cards fast food restaurants

Books & magazines

Coloring books and crayons

Puzzle books/ suduko books

Fun pens and pencils

Lip gloss, lotions, nail polish

Cards

Money

Candy (most kids would want this in their basket)

Under homemade basket ideas you'll find ways to create baskets out of virtually anything laying around the house! (which might work well if you're on the run) I think you'll like it.

But will the person seated next to them receive a discount? what if they are seated in a middle seat. They overflow into a seat on each side. How would that be handled? I have been penalized by having to sit next to a broad person. Some athletes are also broad. They will also cause an issue. Is there really a fair way to do this? My opinion is, yes, anyone who exceeds the standard width should pay more. That would have to be identified when they check in. They may not realize that they are too wide until then. What if they refuse to pay more? Would they get a refund? Should this be treated like someone with luggage that exceeds the weight that is permitted? There are SO many associated issues. Why should they have to pay a premium price for a standard size car, when a slimmer person pays less for a compact? Should the government subsidize their car purchase? How about a physically disabled person who needs hand controls? Should government subsidize that purchase? Sorry for going off on so many tangents. This issues is much more complex than airline tickets.

This year we are spending our first Easter while on Vacation in Ocean City Maryland. I'm planning on packing their basket goodies in my suitcase and bringing the empty baskets for the kids to set out for the bunny to fill. Then once they are deep asleep I plan on filling and wrapping them quickly in the bathroom and hiding them around the room (behind curtains, in the tub, under a table etc) for them to find in the morning. I also searched and found a local Easter Egg hunt to bring them to the day before :) Non traditional to be away from home, but not missing out on the fun stuff that we do traditionally even tho we are away.

I was in Walmart last night and saw some collapsible easter baskets (kind of like the material in a mesh foldable pop-up laundry basket). Those would work great and they had different colors to choose from! Didn't seem then on Walmart's website but here is what one looks like I found on ebay:

Choose some very exciting candies! Some of their favorite candies ever! Then get them a few new little toys that you can pack into your suit case or something like a video game that they can play. Its hard to get big toys on a vacation
