How do I judge a hotel that has bed bug reports?

I'm visiting Arlington Virginia soon for a couple weekends in mid October. After a bit of research I've become a bit alarmed of all the bed bug reports in the area. The hotel that is literally in the same building of where I need to go, the Comfort Inn Ballston, doesn't seem exactly on the ball with their bed bug problems. Other hotels/motels have similar reports on bed bug sites as I found them on google. But if there is 2 bed bug reports for a hotel, such as it is for the Holiday Inn Ballston, one dated in summer 2010 and another just a few months ago, should I cut this hotel completely out of my plans? In terms of price, proximity, and ranking (according to the average review for this hotel from Tripadvisor), it's up there on my list. I can walk to where I need to go, and most people have given it a positive review (out of 121 reviews on Tripadvisor). I'd hate to do that. But I also don't want to be bringing home any little friends.
If you know of a hotel near 1211 N. Glebe Road in Arlington that does NOT have bed bug reports, I'd be happy to know.
How worried should I be? Or should I just call the hotel and listen to what they have to say about it?

As someone who has worked front desk at a hotel and has received the occasional bed bug report, hotels are usually very quick to get a pest exterminator come in after guest complaints. We usually have them come in THE DAY OF. Out of 100 or so rooms that a hotel has, only one or two rooms might have bedbugs, and the rest are totally safe. If you're on TripAdvisor and there are many reviews posted about the same time about the bugs, then you have a problem. But one or two in the past year or so seems like a pretty isolated incident. However, do call the hotel manager and ask what has been done to rectify the problem.

Additionally, when you get there, I'd always recommend inspecting the room yourself. The headboards are very easy to remove, and the bugs like it behind there because they're not as disturbed there. Look for brown/red specks, and in the cracks and crevices of the mattresses.

Yeah i might say housework isn't retaining or the hotel distributors (in all probability greater effective like motels) are starting to be slum lords. I consistently theory mattress bugs have been those that consumed ineffective pores and epidermis/dander/nails/hair and stuff like that leftover. that's the reason we've been consistently taught (stupid as this sounds) to vaccum around the fringe of your mattress, form of in between the mattress and physique very usually or perhaps your mattress is a sturdy suggestion as quickly as you're doing all your seasonal mattress flipping (now no longer particular human beings even attempt this anymore). Wash the linens in many circumstances and yet yet another reason showering is significant lol. i do no longer think of they stay to tell the story human beings or some element... i may be incorrect. that is rather undesirable in spite of if. I truthfully have heard this approximately places like Econo motels and any money hotel form of joint. i might fairly sleep in my motor vehicle than quite a few those places.
